General Gilbert Gapay, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), paid a visit to the AFP Health Service Command (AFPHSC) at Victoriano Luna Medical Center on December 18.
Colonel Edgar Cardinoza, Commander of the AFPHSC, welcomed the AFP Chief with military honors.
General Gapay paid a visit to the AFP’s injured troops and medical workers to boost morale and gain a better understanding of the situation on the ground.
“To our wounded soldiers recuperating in V-Luna Medical Center, and our medical professionals working in here, you have no idea how much I have anticipated this prospect of visiting you all. I am sure that each and everyone in here has their own tales of bravery and heroism,” General Gapay said.
The AFP Chief also expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the dedication and sacrifices made by the AFP’s injured soldiers and medical workers who are now engaged in combat.
“From our wounded soldiers fighting for peace and democracy in fields, to our military medical doctors and nurses who are in the frontlines waging their own battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. You have all made the AFP proud of your dedication and achievements. Batid naming na ito ay di sapat sa katapangan at sakripisyo na pinamalas ninyo, upang ang ating Inang bayan ay maging payapa at maging isang lugar na kaaya-ayang tirhan ng lahat,” General Gapay added.
General Gapay also conducted the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the recently completed three-story Military Nurses Officers Quarters, which is also located inside V. Luna Medical Center, with the assistance of Col Cardinoza, to promote the morale and welfare of the AFPHSC working force.
