185 aspiring soldiers took oath

6th Infantry Division - Kampilan

Members of Candidate Soldier Course Class 653-2020 swore their oath at the 6th Infantry Division Grandstand on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

A total of 185 aspiring soldiers, composed of 183 for regular enlistment and 2 for special enlistment, stood before the Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division Commander, Major General Juvymax R. Uy as they took an oath before they were sent to the Division Training School (DTS) in Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Thousands of applicants went through a rigorous selection procedure to guarantee that only the most qualified candidates were recruited and trained to join the ranks of the Philippine Army’s soldiers. After clearing all of the essential standards, such as physical, medical, neurological, and psychological exams, a total of 185 applicants were chosen.

The candidate soldiers were brought to DTS after their oath for a rigorous 14-week military training divided into three modules: Transformation, Basic Squad Training, and Application of Knowledge. This training will shape them into disciplined, competent, and capable soldiers who will populate the Army’s enlisted ranks.

Maj. General Uy advised the candidate troops to be positive and expect the harshest condition while undergoing basic military training in the boot camp.

The commander also instructed the Commandant of Division Training School and the Training Staff not to abuse the candidate soldiers, but rather to properly train them.

Sulu’s CSC CL 653-2020 consists of 166 males, 10 females, two male special enlistees, and seven female candidate soldiers.
