Typhoon Ulysses heroes recognized by Marine Commander

The Commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps, MGen. Ariel R. Caculitan PN(M), welcomed members of the Philippine Marine Corps who were hailed heroes after the successful Search and Rescue Operations for Typhoon Ulysses victims on December 22, 2020.

SSgt Donald Ganalon PN(M), recipient of the Bronze Cross Medal for acts of heroism involving the risk of his life as a member of the Marine Corps 4th Water Search and Rescue Team during the Search and Rescue Operations for victims of Typhoon Ulysses in the Marikina and Rizal areas last November 2020, is the group’s representative.

The 85th Armed Forces of the Philippines Day rites were held yesterday, December 21, 2020, at the General Headquarters, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, and the Bronze Cross Medal was presented by the Chief of Staff, AFP, LtGen. Gilbert I. Gapay PA.

A 155MM Howitzer Gunner from the Marine Corps Field Artillery Battalion, SSgt Ganalon, is joined by 12 other heroes who saved 188 individuals from the aftermath of the catastrophic typhoon.
