NPA official with high rank falls in Negros Occidental

The Army’s 15th Infantry (Molave Warrior) Battalion apprehended and arrested on December 22, 2020 a high-ranking NPA official in Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

Radino Giltendez Villacarillo, 43, was seized by the 15 IB troopers and the Philippine National Police Joint Law Enforcement Security Operations. He goes by the identities Romil G. Villacarillo, Poldo, Rading, Ado, Kanor, Baldo, Tauros, and Yongyong.

Giltendez is the Secretary of the Second National Urban Center (2NURC), formerly known as the Cebu Party Committee, and the Military Hardware Liaison for the Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor (KR-NCBS) Regional Operational Command (ROC) Ordnance Staff.

He was also a former Regional Committee Member of Komiteng Rehiyon- Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor (KR-NCBS); Commanding Officer, Rehiyon Sentro De Grabidad (RSDG) KR-Negros Front; Committee Member of North Negros Front (NNF); and Front Operational Command North Negros Front (FOC NNF).

A caliber 45 automatic pistol, one magazine, two hand grenades, two laptop computers, eight cellular phones, two pocket Wi-Fi, external drive, four USB, and one unregistered motorcycle and subversive materials were seized from his possession.

The arrest of a high-ranking NPA, according to 15IB Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Erwin Cariño, is another huge blow for the CPP-NPA-NDF terrorists operating in Negros Island.

Poldo, as per Cariño, was reputedly among the NPA insiders ordered by the rebel group to spy not only on various individuals in metropolitan areas, but also to closely watch the Special Partisan Unit (SPARU) actions.

“He was also tasked to keep in touch with politicians sympathizers with their cause, for him to move freely in different municipalities, district clinics, as well as churches,” said Cariño who also promises that the 15IB and the PNP would continue to watch and investigate this type of “modus operandi.”

Colonel Leonardo Peña, Commander of the Army’s 302nd Infantry Brigade, praised the efforts and devotion of the 15IB Troopers and their PNP colleagues.

“The successful Joint Enhanced Military and Police Operation manifests the strong commitment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police assigned in Negros,” Peña said.

“With a stronger collaboration, your Army, together with the Philippine National Police, will work hand in hand to protect the Negrenses against the NPA terrorist group,” Peña added.
