53IB intends to develop a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028

During his visit to Ditulan Patrol Base in Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on July 2, 2021, the Commanding Officer of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB), Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, continued to impart the warrior ethos and duty to the Matapat Troopers.

Lt. Col. Herrera stated, “The warrior culture and troops’ feeling of responsibility should be maintained to ensure that they continue to strive for greatness.”

A Matapat Trooper and seven CAFGU Active Auxiliaries (CAAs) also received a Military Merit Medal from Lt. Col. Herrera for their dedication to duty, meritorious performance, and significant contribution to this unit.

In accordance with the Army Transformation Roadmap, this activity is part of 53IB’s push to transform into a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028.
