The Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, praised police officers from two Abra municipal stations for collaborating to care for an 11-year-old girl with cerebral palsy.

Eleazar praised the Pearrubia and Bucay municipal police stations, particularly Bucay police Cpl. Rochelle Venus Palino, for providing “genuine care” to children.

“I commend Cpl. Palino and the other police personnel at the Peñarrubia and Bucay Municipal Police Stations for taking the initiative to help Aileen obtain the basic goods she needs,” Eleazar said Monday.

Last July 16, Pearrubia police discovered of the 11-year-old Aileen Progreso’s condition during a house-to-house visit in Barangay Sta. Rosa. Due to budgetary constraints, Progreso, who is immobile as a result of her disease, has never been taken to a doctor for consultation.

When Palino heard about the girl from a Facebook post of Peñarrubia police, she started a “Swap for a Cause” activity for Aileen’s benefit.

Palino traded her child’s pre-loved clothes for cash and goods, providing for Aileen’s needs. She personally delivered the cash and goods along with donations from other police personnel.
