Philippine Army’s 53IB, LGU perpetuate peace efforts in Dimataling

At the recently convened Joint Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) held at Dimataling Gymnasium on July 16, 2021, the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) and the Municipal Government of Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur continued to perpetuate peace efforts.

Dimataling mayor Avelino Yrauda said Dimataling supports the efforts of the government against the New People’s Army.

“We support the government through the Armed Forces against the NPA. We have already declared the CPP-NPA-NDF persona non grata; hence, they are not welcome here,” Mayor Yrauda said.

Significant updates provided by other agencies also included the strict monitoring of illegal drugs, road clearing compliance, and fake organizations infiltrating the barangays to collect money. The meeting was also attended by Dimataling Vice Mayor Omar Buluan, MLGOO Ms. Maricar Bernante, ABC President Leoligario Albarico, all 24 Barangay Chairmen of Dimataling, and other government agencies.

This effort is part of the 53IB’s goal of becoming a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028, as outlined in the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
