Minor apprehended with high-powered firearms at a military checkpoint in Maguindanao

On the early hours of July 19, 2021, a 13-year-old minor was intercepted at a military checkpoint in Barangay Nabundas, Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao, and various high-powered guns and other war materiel were confiscated from him.

During a checkpoint operation in the abovementioned barangay, troops of the 1st Mechanized Battalion, led by Lieutenant Colonel Cresencio Sanchez Jr., intercepted a Kubota Kuliglig filled with unauthorized high-powered guns and other war supplies for gun production. A 13-year-old child was behind the wheel of the aforementioned Kubota Kuliglig (whose identity was withheld).

One (1) M16 (Bushmaster), one (1) M16 Rifle, 38 pieces of M16 Barrels, six (6) pieces of M14 Back Plate, two (2) pieces M16 Butt plates, varied parts for M14 and M16 rifles, one (1) unit Welding Machine, and three (3) pieces Metal clamp are among the confiscated arms and materiel.

The youngster was apprehended and handed over to the local police station as well as Mohamad Upam, Chairman of Brgy. Bialong, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, for further investigation.
