Philippine Army’s 53IB, LGU conducts medical mission, outreach program for the needy

On July 21, 2021, the Bravo “Boulders” Company of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) held a medical mission and outreach program for the residents of Barangay Lipawan, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.

There was a free medical checkup, an operation tuli, and a free haircut as part of the event. The Health Fair was co-facilitated by 53IB Bravo Company Commanding Officer 1Lt. Niel Kim Garcia, Oplan Amuma Executive Director Mr. Ronel Cabilan, MHO Dra. Ju Kanra Panugao, Dr. Reynaldo Vasquez, Barangay Chairman Hon. Romer Escurro, and BFP SFO3 Luciano Ocliaso.

Dumingag’s counter-insurgency action plan, Oplan Amuma, is based on President Duterte’s Executive Order 70. Its goal is to institutionalize a whole-of-nation strategy to putting a stop to the country’s insurgency.

This effort is part of the 53IB’s goal of becoming a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028, as outlined in the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
