Lieutenant General Roberto T. Ancan PA, Commander, AFP Central Command, paid his farewell visit to Headquarters, 302nd Infantry (Achiever) Brigade on July 20, 2021.

He was accorded with foyer honors by Colonel Leonardo I Peña (MNSA) PA, Brigade Commander, 302nd Infantry Brigade in front of the Unit’s Administration building upon his arrival.

Because he is a full-blooded Negrense born in Victorias, Negros Occidental on August 21, 1965, and lived as the eldest son among four siblings, LtGen Ancan’s heart truly belongs on Negros Island.

He attended Don Bosco Victorias, an all-boys high school, where he was chosen to be the Corps Commander during their Citizens Army Training (CAT) class.

He was raised in a modest family with a father who worked as a government civilian employee, which inspired him to want to help his parents, which is why he applied for and received a full-time scholarship grant from the Philippine Military Academy in 1983, graduating with the PMA “Hinirang” Class of 1987.

As an Army officer, he was guided by his desire for greatness, which propelled him to the top percentile of his peers and allowed him to participate in a variety of military trainings both domestically and overseas. Such benefits are not available to everyone, since one must be chosen from among the best candidates.

He is a well-rounded officer who has served in many areas of the country (Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao), as well as abroad, where he held positions in various capacities as a result of his exemplary skills and proficiency in doing various tasks, which has brought him to where he is now.

Because of his valuable contributions to the AFP’s mission during his more than three decades of military service, he became one of the most decorated officers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

He also achieved the three command positions that every Philippine Army officer dreams of achieving before retirement: as Brigade Commander for a One-Star Position when he was posted as the Commander of 1002nd Infantry (BAGWIS) Brigade, 10th Infantry (AGILA) Division, Philippine Army; as Division Commander for a Two-Star Position when he was designated as Commander of the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, Philippine Army; and now as Commander of a Three-Star Position when he was appointed as the 22nd Commander, Central Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines. That is how bless our Honored Guest is; because he always believes and acknowledges the power of the Almighty.

In his statement, LtGen Ancan extended his profound gratitude to the men and women of the 302nd Brigade for their dedication to work, which can be credited to the great accomplishments achieved during his time as Central Command Chief.

“Now as the Commander of Central Command, I like to appreciate the accomplishment of this Brigade when I assumed as the Commander last October 2019, till now, your Brigade has been achieving well and accomplishing the mission being provided both by the Central Command as well as the JTF Spear, 3rd Infantry Division. Keep up the good work and carry-on with the achievements of this Achiever Brigade,” LtGen Ancan added.
