The 5th Infantry DUTYBOUND Battalion sponsored a fun-filled day for the pre-schoolers of Mulondo Central School last July 23, 2021 in Mulondo, Lanao Del Sur.

The program was made possible thanks to the Kiwanis International, directed by Ms Merlyn Maños and Ms Rasmila Cosain, in partnership with the 5IB and Mayor Nihara Panandigan of the Municipality of Mulondo. The event began with a simple handover of books provided by various stakeholders, which was followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony for a freshly renovated tiny library.

The highlight of the evening was the school’s preschoolers’ coloring session. Teachers led by Ms Aida Abdul, School Principal, and Ms Salma Mangoao, District Supervisor, coordinated the event. Mr. Alyasa Panandigan, Mayor Panandigan’s Chief of Staff, and the parents of the pre-schoolers were also present.

The goal of the activity is to get kids to recognize the importance of reading as a source of information. The military gave the pre-schoolers crayons and coloring books, as well as hygiene kits.

“We hope that this simple activity will mark the beginning of a new generation of learners who have a greater drive to pursue knowledge and discover a more colorful world through reading” said LTC ROMULUS B. RABARA, Commanding Officer of 5IB.
