Through the combined efforts of the hinterland community in Barangay Salvador, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur and the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) and 1st CMO “Mahigalaon” Battalion (1CMOBn), a hidden rice supply for Communist-NPA terrorists was discovered on July 25, 2021.

After information was revealed by a certain Renato Panilagan, who discovered the buried rice supplies while hunting for wild boars, the community and the Army were able to effectively recover eight ( eight ) gallons of the buried rice supplies.

With the help of Salvador Barangay Captain Luisito Cruz, Barangay Officials, CVOs, and the BDS Team of Barangay Salvador, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, the buried food supplies were discovered and recovered.

This effort is part of the 53IB’s goal of becoming a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028, as outlined in the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
