The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) and 1st CMO “Mahigalaon” Battalion (1CMOBn) partnered with the community of Barangay Salvador in Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur to rebuild the barangay’s main road on July 19-20, 2021.

The Matapat and Mahigalaon Troopers, along with Hon. Rolly Jemino of the Committee on Peace and Order, engaged in the pahina sa kalsada (road repair) at Purok 1 of the aforementioned Barangay. The goal of the activity was to preserve the integrity of the barangay road, which had been devastated by the previous landslide.

This effort is part of the 53IB’s goal to evolve into a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028, as outlined in its strategic plan.
