Joint Task Force Sulu bids farewell to a marine battalion

The Joint Task Force -Sulu presided over the send-off ceremony for the Marine Battalion Landing Team (MBLT) – 1 at Brgy. Tanduh Bato Pier in Luuk, Sulu.

The send-off ceremony of MBLT-1 to be redeployed in the Province of Tawi-Tawi was graced by Joint Task Force-Sulu Commander MGen William N. Gonzalez, who was represented by 1101st Brigade Commander BGen Antonio I. Bautista Jr.

MBLT-1 was deployed in the Province of Sulu on February 5, 2016 under the Philippine Marine Ready Force. After five years of faithful and dedicated service to the people of Sulu, MBLT-1 has to leave the Area of Operations of 4th Marine Brigade (4MBde) in the 2nd District of Sulu and be operationally controlled by the 2nd Marine Brigade stationed at Taw-Tawi.

BGen Bautista expressed his gratitude to the MBLT-1 for their efforts in the province of Sulu in his speech.

“It has been an honor to work with you as a fellow member of the JTF-Sulu family. Indeed, you’ve proven your worth and I’m certain that the people of Sulu are grateful for your service. As you will be deployed in Tawi-Tawi, I know that you will have the same motivation in carrying out your missions. Godspeed and may continue making the Marine Corps proud,” he said.

Sulu Provincial Governor Erwin Tan, various Mayors from the 2nd District of Sulu, and other military leaders, including 1102nd Infantry Brigade Commander BGen Benjamin G. Batara Jr., all attended the ceremony.
