India pledges support to Philippine Navy during envoy’s visit

India’s envoy to the Philippines, Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran reaffirmed support to the Philippine Navy during his courtesy call on the Navy Flag Officer In Command, Vice Adm. Adeluis Bordado, at the PN headquarters today, August 5.

Ambassador Kumaran remarked upon the Philippines and India’s “very cordial relations” that are “built across the seas.” He then stated how naval connections play a vital role in the two countries’ future partnerships.

“We look forward to having significant interactions (with the Philippine Navy)… on capacity-building, training let us know we’d be happy to offer what we can,” he added.

For his part, Navy Chief Bordado expressed his gratitude “for all the support that you are extending to our navy especially in capacity-building.”

“I always hope that it will move into higher levels of cooperation in the future,” he concluded.

The Philippine Navy is committed to continuing and strengthening ties and partnerships with its neighboring navies in the Indo-Pacific region as manifested by today’s courtesy call.
