The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – Region IX (TESDA-IX) and the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) completed a 3-day Swedish Massage Training for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at 53IB Headquarters in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on Friday, August 6, 2021.

The training, which included 20 PWDs, focused and explained how Swedish Massage relieves stress, tension, depression, and anxiety; how it increases flexibility, and decreases dependence on medicine; and how it releases endorphin which is a natural painkiller of the body. Said training was facilitated by Ms. Rosalie Vilvestre from TESDA-IX.

TESDA-IX Administrative Officer V and Acting Supervising Specialist Ms. Mary Jane Amarado in her message said TESDA will continue its mandate as chair of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC).

“TESDA will continue training and capacitating individuals to significantly address poverty affectation among marginalized communities and basic sectors,” said Ms. Amarado.

Meanwhile, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera thanked the TESDA for the conduct of said training.

“We are grateful for the close partnership and convergence with TESDA. Not only do we give premium on the PWDs’ skills development, but also on their morale and welfare,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
