The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay San Pablo held Linggo ng Kabataan in collaboration with the Youth Movement for Change in Action (YMCA), Dumingag PNP, and the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) last August 7-8, highlighting the youth’s role in nation-building, leadership, and environmental consciousness.
Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, 53IB Commanding Officer, spoke about the role of youth in nation-building and young leadership during the activity.
“As early as now, you should recognize your roles in nation-building. Recognize that you have the power to make a change.. to make a difference,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
The Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, Section 30 of Republic Act No. 10742, mandates the celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan in every municipality, city, and province on the week of August 12th, which coincides with International Youth Day (IYD).
This program also promotes sports and young fellowship as a source of hope and optimism in the face of the pandemic’s hardships.
