The Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF-NCR) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and its other stakeholders have given 12,000 hot meals to Metro Manila residents affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
The hot meal distribution was carried out with the cooperation of the AFP Logistics Support Command, 7th Civil Relations Group, and 11th Civil-Military Operations Battalion, according to JTF-NCR public affairs office chief Capt. Prad Adoptante.
Operation Blessing Inc., the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the National Capital Region Police Office, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, the Philippine Coast Guard, and other non-government organizations also joined the initiative.
The effort, which began on August 9, is part of the AFP’s “Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko” initiative, which aims to alleviate the consequences of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, according to Adoptante.
From August 6 to 20, Metro Manila will be under an ECQ to prevent the spread of the COVID-19, particularly the highly transmissible Delta variant.
