The 40th Infantry (Magiting) Battalion held a three-day Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) for Former Violent Extremists who returned to the fold of the government at the Gymnasium, 601st Infantry (Unifier) Brigade, Camp Leono, Brgy. Kalandagan, Tacurong City, from the 11th to the 13th of August 2021.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) coordinated and collaborated with the Ministry of Training, Investment, and Tourism (MTIT), 64th Civil-Military Operations Company, 40th Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Battalion, 601st Infantry (Unifier) Brigade, 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army to make this activity a success.
The three-day training was conducted with the help of facilitators team from the BARMM TUGON Project (Tulong ng Nagmamalasakit) led by Mr. Jaber B. Macacua, Project Manager and Ms. Karon-Mendez-OIC, Chief of Staff of Investment Development Investment Promotion (IDIT).
Business planning, financial literacy and management, and a business resiliency plan were among the topics highlighted. This course seeks to provide armed converts with sufficient knowledge of entrepreneurship and how to grow small investments in the event that they are able to start a business in their communities.
This is one of the projects carried out in the BARMM communities, where tensions between the government and armed organizations are common.
“Ang pakikipatulungan natin sa Pamahalaang Bangsamoro ay isa sa mga programa ng 40th Infantry Battalion na kasalukuyang tinutukan upang maihatid sa mga mamamayan ang serbisyo ng pamahalaan lalo na sa ating mga former violent extremists,” said LTC Edwin M. Alburo INF (GSC) PA, head of 40th Infantry Battalion.
“Ang ating pamahalaan ay may mga nakalaang pondo upang tugunan ang inyong mga pangangailangan para sa kinabukasan ng inyong mga pamilya,” he added.
The 40th Infantry Battalion’s continuing participation demonstrates that it honestly supports the local government in achieving the long-awaited peace and prosperity in our town.
