During a 3-day IP Youth Leadership Summit organized by 601st Infantry Unifier Brigade through 5th Special Forces Battalion from August 9 to 13, 2021 at Sitio Blit, Brgy. Ned, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, youths from the hinterland barangay of the said province denounced the CTG organization.
Because they are the most prone to deceptions, radicalization, and exploitation, Indigenous People (IP) youths have been a shelter for communist terrorist groups (CTGs) to recruit new members of the armed revolution.
Through the Brigade’s Community Support Program (CSP), the unit maintains its collaborations and coordination with the Lake Sebu local government unit and other concerned government agencies from the province of South Cotabato, such as NCIP, DOST, TESDA, DSWD, PNP, BFP, and IPMR, pushing the said IPYLS activity as one of the measures and interventions to continue to educate and saftey the people.
“There is a need to sustain our collaboration and efforts involving the different agencies, local government and security sectors in order to prevent the CTG’s encroachment and radicalization among IP youths”, Hon. Floro Gandam, the municipal mayor of Lake Sebu said.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Roy Galido, commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade, stated that the Brigade will continue its mandates in its area of responsibility through an institutionalized whole-of-nation approach mechanism in achieving exclusive and viable peace, providing an effective solution for the entire province against communist terrorists.
