About 1.2 million ECQ-affected residents in Visayas, Mindanao receive AICS

More than 1.2 million individual in Visayas and Mindanao who were affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) have received special monetary assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)’s Special Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

As of Wednesday (August 11), 312,240 qualified families or 1,248,965 individuals had received special AICS in Iloilo Province, Cagayan de Oro City, and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental, as the concerned local government entities continue to undertake payout activities. This equates to almost P1.2 billion in cash assistance monies disbursed.

The government has set aside more than P3.64 billion to assist 3,642,068 people who are experiencing economic hardship as a result of the proclamation of a localized ECQ in the three districts.

According to the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 2, Series of 2021, beneficiaries receive P1,000 cash support for each family member through the special AICS, up to a maximum of P4,000 per household.

The DSWD is committed to assisting families in coping with the economic consequences of the pandemic.
