The Philippine Navy, through Naval Forces West, has successfully concluded its participation in the Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) 2021.
Several PN vessels and aircraft took part in the training exercise, including the patrol craft BRP Nestor Reinoso, the AW 109 helicopter, Islander aircraft, and the new frigate BRP Antonio Luna. The PN’s exercise scenarios took place on August 15 and 17, 2021, starting in the northern waters of Palawan and ending in the Sulu sea off the east coast of Puerto Princesa.
The two scenarios exercised the PN’s air, surface and ground communication capabilities; established new concepts and framework in a combined/interagency C4ISR; enhanced maritime domain awareness through the integration of PN and PCG’s capabilities on surface tracking, aerial surveillance, coastal radar, and automatic identification system (AIS) to detect and intercept vessels of interest; and developed interoperability with foreign surveillance aircraft such as the P-8 Poseidon of the US Navy.
The Philippine Navy achieved its mission to test and enhance its capability and related doctrines on maritime information exchange and convey our commitment to maintaining good rapport and cooperation among regional navies.
The Southeast Asia Cooperation and Training (SEACAT) 2021 will officially conclude in Singapore on August 20, 2021.
