Army participates in Mangrove Tree Planting Activity in Basilan

Joint Task Force Basilan/101st Infantry (Three Red Arrows) Brigade, 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, PA under the leadership of BGen. Domingo B. Gobway PA supporst the conduct of Mangrove Tree Planting activity initiated by the Student Supreme Government (SSG) of Basilan National High School.

The said activity was held at Fuego-Fuego, Brgy. Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan on August 21, 2021.

The effort strives to offer natural infrastructure to neighboring population areas, by preventing erosion and absorbing storm surge impacts during extreme weather occurrences. Mangroves are also important for protecting water quality because they filter and trap sediments, heavy metals, and other contaminants through their extensive network of roots and surrounding vegetation.

The activity was successfully conducted by which attended and actively participated by military and civilian stakeholders and partners from Student Supreme Government of Basilan National High School, Brgy Officials of Tabiawan, International DeMolay of Basilan, Barkada Kontra Droga, Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Boys Scout and Girls Scout of the Philippines, Charlie (Kahiusa) company, 1st Civil Military Operations (Mahigalaon) Battalion, 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army and 14th Cavalry (Sandigan) Company, 1st Cavalry Battalion, Armor Division, Philippine Army.
