The Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) held a ground breaking ceremony for a Barangay Development Program (BDP) project in Barangay Lacnapan, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
The P15 million Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) Concreting Project is part of a P20 million BDP fund distributed to local government units as part of a development package for barangays free of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTG) involvement.
“I have been first deployed here in Zamboanga Sibugay in 1991, and for the past 30 years, I have seen how this barangay had progressed and broke free from the influence of the CTG,” said Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander.
“I urge everyone to continue protecting our community from the threats brought about by the CTGs for the future generation,” Brig. Gen. Nicolas added.
Prior to the ground breaking, a Pre-Construction Conference was held, which was attended by Engr. Romel Duran, PTF-ELCAC Focal Person; Hon. Katrina Balladares, Mayor of Kabasalan; Hon. Dominador Medrano Jr, Barangay Chairman; Maj. Cyril Atis, 44IB Executive Officer, PNP; and the local community.
“Dako amo pasalamat sa gobiyerno kay nahatagan mi ug ing-aning mga proyekto sa among barangay (We are thankful to the government for giving us this kind of project here in our barangay),” said Mr. Reynaldo Dangcal, President, Alsa Masa Association.
The project is scheduled to begin in September of this year and will be completed in early 2022.
