Joint efforts of AFP and PNP elements, including intelligence operatives from Naval Forces Western Mindanao, successfully led to the surrender of Nelson C. Asuro aka Ka Jeffrey / Ka Larry, former Squad Vice Commanding Officer of the defunct Special Section Committee – Tukuran, Ramon Magsaysay, Aurora, Karumatan and Kapatagan (SSC-TRAKK) belonging to the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC) based in Brgy Bajan, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

According to the NFWM PAO, the surrenderer handed over his Cal. 38 revolver, live ammunition, and a hand grenade to Josefina Municipal Mayor Catalino A. Adapon. On August 26, 2021, he also took an oath of allegiance to the NTF70 – ELCAC Zamboanga del Sur.

Asuro will be reintegrated into the community while his application for a Livelihood Settlement Grant through the NTF-ELCAC’s Sustainable Livelihood Program is processed. Various government agencies are implementing the initiative.

The government’s continuous battle against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), which included resorting to dialogue to settle the local communist armed confrontation, resulted in various capitulation of rebels.
