The spike in the capitulation of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters continues, amid the military’s strenuous attempts to eradicate the various terrorist groups in Mindanao.

On September 1, 2021, four additional members of the BIFF-Karialan Faction surrendered to the military in Maguindanao, thanks to the efforts of the 6th Mechanized Infantry Battalion and the 1st Brigade Combat Team.

They were identified as a.k.a. Dauto, 20 years old, single, and a resident of Barangay Tapikan, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao; a.k.a. The surrendered individuals are currently being debriefed in custody, according to Brig. Gen. Patrimonio.

“We already coordinated with AGILA HAVEN for their livelihood assistance,” Brig. Gen. Patrimonio added.

In the Maguindanao area, 59 BIFF-Karialan Faction members surrendered last month. The military, according to Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Commander of Joint Task Force Central, will assist in the processing of the rewards that former violent extremists would receive under the AGILA HAVEN Program of the Province of Maguindanao.

Acting Commander of the Western Mindanao Command, Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, praised the troops of the Joint Task Force Central for their unwavering efforts to combat terrorism and dismantle terror groups in their area of operations.

“Our substantial gains bespeak of our successful campaigns and interagency collaboration and cooperation. Let us sustain this so that our ultimate will soon be achieved,” he stated.
