3 BIFF members surrender, hand over weaponry to Philippine Army’s 92IB

Three more members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters surrendered and gave over their rifles to forces from the 92nd Infantry Battalion on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

Brig. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio, Commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, received them in Old Capitol, Barangay Satan, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.

The former violent extremists known as a.k.a. Nasser/Abbang, a.k.a. Munib, and a.k.a. Bensar were members of the BIFF Karialan and Bungos Factions, according to Brig. Gen. Patrimonio. One 7.62mm Sniper rifle, one 5.56mm Ultimax Sub-Machine Gun, and one rocket-propelled grenade were handed over.

Shariff Aguak Councilor Datukun Malaguial, Datu Hoffer Councilor Akas Ampatuan, and MPOC Focal Person of Datu Unsay Mr. Carlobon Peries were present at the presentation of surrendered individuals. The LGUs of Shariff Aguak, Datu Hoffer, and Datu Unsay, all of Maguindanao, provided financial aid to the trio during the activity.

Commander of Joint Task Force Central, Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, praised the troops and the LGU for the positive results of their excellent collaboration and coordination.

The breakthrough in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, according to Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, Acting Commander of Western Mindanao Command, is due to the AFP’s holistic strategy and the communities’ unwavering support.

At the 92IB headquarters on Hill 150, Barangay Meta, Datu Unsay, Maguindanao, subject personalities are now undergoing custodial debriefing. Following that, they will be enrolled in the government’s reintegration program.
