The Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry (STEADY… ON) Battalion stopped a terror attack by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in Barangay Napangan, Don Victoriano Chiongbian, Misamis Occidental on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
“Our troops received information from concerned citizens that the weakened Guerilla Front Sendong operating in MisOcc is attempting to conduct arson of equipment of ongoing implementation of development projects of the government in the provicne,” said Lt. Col. Angestal Angeles II, Commanding Officer, 10IB.
“At about 9:30 AM, one of our patrolling units encountered the CTG and was followed by another clash with our blocking troops at about 10:30AM in boundary of Sitio Decallar and Sitio Bigaan,” Lt. Col. Angeles added.
On the government’s side, there were no casualties.
Meanwhile, 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas informed the public that the brigade is on top of the situation.
“We have managed to monitor their plan and disrupt it with the help of the concerned citizens. We remain steadfast in pursuing the remaining armed groups to achieve long lasting peace in Misamis Occidental,” said Brig. Gen. Nicolas.
The Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee as a whole, according to Brig. Gen. Nicolas, is on the verge of ultimate defeat and ruin.
“Based on the documents and propaganda materials recovered, the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee is desperate and greatly affected by the withdrawal of support of its masses and the programs of the Local Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (LTF-ELCAC) in the region, especially now that most of the source of resources through extortion stopped giving financial support,” Brig. Gen. Nicolas added.
It can be recalled that on Monday afternoon, September 13, 2021, the combined troops of the 97th Infantry (KALASAGLAHI) Battalion and the 42nd Infantry (TAGAPAGTANGGOL) Battalion clashed against the Guerilla Front BBC operating in Sergio Osmea, Zamboanga del Norte,.
