The Opening Ceremony of Military Science 1 was held via a virtual platform by the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, Quezon City.

UP-ROTC Commandant, Colonel Jaime R. Datuin, presided over the Opening Ceremony.

“We envisioned making future leaders from among the youth through the ROTC program, it is you our cadets who we aim to develop into capable citizens and reservists ready to answer the need of our country whatever the situation may be,“ said Col. Datuin.

The purpose of the ROTC is to provide military training to tertiary students in order to motivate, train, organize, and mobilize them for national defense readiness.

“This Corps year, I expect it would be the same but we are more prepared to face the challenges whatever it they may be giving you a fulfilling corps year of learning, as cadets you are already at the path of service to the Nation you choose ROTC for your NSTP and that alone is a reflection of the leads you are prepared to do for the Country,” said Col. Datuin.

“I commend you for choosing the path less chosen and I am confident knowing that the future of our country is in the hands of capable and determined individuals like you,” he added.
