After the recent Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council (JPSCC) Meeting at 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur, the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO) and the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) planted trees and demonstrated their pistol marksmanship and accuracy skills.

The tree-planting event was part of their commitment to conserve the environment, create awareness, and mitigate climate change’s negative consequences.

At the Matapat Firing Range inside 53IB Headquarters, the peacekeepers also demonstrated their marksmanship talents in a simple fellowship pistol firing practice.

The 53IB and the ZSPPO are co-chairs of the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC)’s Peace, Law Enforcement, and Development Support (PLEDS) Cluster. ELCAC has 12 lines of effort at the national, regional, provincial, and local levels, and PLEDS is one of them.
