As COVID-19 cases continue to go up, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will deploy five (5) medical teams to bolster the health system capability of hospitals in the National Capital Region.

The Philippine Army will send two teams, as will the AFP Health Services Command, the Philippine Navy, and the Philippine Air Force.

Each team will consist of one (1) doctor, one (1) nurse, and three (3) medical personnel.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19 will decide which medical facilities in the NCR will be supplemented by the AFP’s medical contingent.

The deployment, which is similar to the AFP’s previous operations in Cebu and Davao in 2020, is in addition to the AFP’s present distribution of medial frontline workers in Metro Manila’s mega swabbing and quarantine facilities.

Meanwhile, the AFP is speeding up the processing of appointments for newly-hired military doctors and nurses in order to boost the capabilities of its Medical Corps.
