Army reservists, PCG partakes in International Coastal Clean Up Day

Brigadier General Fernando V. Felipe PA, Commander of the Army Reserve Command, joined the International Clean Up Operations 2021 in the Pasig River on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

Lieutenant Colonel Joan A. Lagunda MNSA PA (RES), Director of the Pasig River Coordinating and Management Office (PRCMO), and Colonel Ricky P. Bunayog MNSA (INF) PA, Commander of the National Capital Region Regional Community Defense Group (NCRRCDG), greeted BGen Felipe at the Quezon Bridge Ferry Station.

BGen Felipe, Col Bunayog, LTC Lagunda, the Philippine Coast Guard, and other Army personnel boarded a PCG Patrol boat to demonstrate support and raise volunteer morale at Escolta Ferry Station, Quezon Ferry Station, Buhangin Creek, and BASECO Beach Area.

“Enjoy naman sir,” Corporal Enjelyn Alejando PA (RES) of 1304th RRIBn who rode on one of the tug boats operating in the clean-up drive said.

“Nakakatulong po kami sa paglilinis ng Ilog Pasig. Hindi po namin iniinda ang pagod, worth it po. Uulitin ko pa din na mag-volunteer na maglinis sa Pasig River,” he added.

More than 200 persons took part in the International Clean-Up Operations led by PRCMO in collaboration with NCRRCDG, ARESCOM, a DENR office in charge of coordinating operations on the clean-up and restoration of the Pasig River.
