Philippine Navy Patrol Craft conducts relief operation for typhoon-affected island barangays in Samar

BRP Alfredo Peckson (PC372) in partnership with 87th Infantry Battalion, City Social Welfare and Development Catbalogan, Philippine National Police Catbalogan, and “Operation Blessing”, a humanitarian arm of Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), conducted disaster response and relief operation at Brgy. Cagutsan and Brgy. Rama, Timpasan Island, Catbalogan City, Samar that was severely hit and devastated by Typhoon Jolina on September 20, 2021.

A total of three hundred forty-five (345) food packs were distributed to families whose houses were partially and totally damaged by Typhoon Jolina. Additionally, CDR NORBERTO A BAYLON PN, Commanding Officer of PC372 also handed-over six (6) sacks of used clothing from Headquarters Naval Reserved Central Eastern Visayas to Hon. Oscar Maribojoc Sr., Brgy. Chairman of Brgy Cagutsan and Hon. Laureano B Lomuardo Jr., Brgy. Chairman of Brgy. Rama for distribution to their respected constituent.

The success of this relief operation demonstrates the Philippine Navy’s, local government units’, and non-governmental organizations’ ongoing commitment to providing responsive and prompt humanitarian and relief assistance to Filipinos living in island barangays during times of crisis and calamities, particularly during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
