On October 13, 7ID personnel undertook rescue operations in the municipalities of Ilocos Sur, Abra, and other provinces under 7ID’s jurisdiction, in collaboration with Local Government Units, the Philippine Coast Guard, and other rescue groups.

As of this writing, 40 people were rescued from floods in the Ilocos Sur barangays of Nanguneg East, Nanguneg Poblacion, Cagayungan, Poblacion Narvacan, and San Pedro. At Sitio Pantar, Villahermosa, Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur, two family were also saved from neck-deep floodwater.

Road clearing operations were carried out by the military in collaboration with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. In Licab, Nueva Ecija, the soldiers also assisted in the delivery of relief supplies by the local government.

“We are intensifying our HADR operations in collaboration with the Local Government Units in our area of responsibility to help our people affected by Tropical Storm ‘Maring,” said Brig. Gen. Luis Bergante, Acting Commander of 7ID.
