CPP-NPA-Terrorists (CNTs) with three high-powered firearms surrendered to the 95th Infantry Battalion (95IB) under the 502nd Infantry Brigade of the 5th Infantry Division and Philippine National Police (PNP) on October 14 and 15, 2021, in Ilagan City and Nueva Vizcaya.

Six CNTs surrendered to 95IB and PNP Region 2 personnel in Ilagan City on October 14 after deciding to leave the terrorist group owing to hardship and starvation.

On October 15, another CNT surrendered to the PNP Region 2 and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) in Nueva Viscaya. He was identified as alias Rob, a Cagayan-based NPA medical officer.

The Philippine Army’s Commanding General is elated at the latest victory of 5ID in its area of duty against the communist terrorist outfit.

“I commend our government troops for a job well done in safely bringing our former rebels back to folds of the government as they start a new life. Their act of surrender has a significant impact in ending the insurgency and keeping the peace and security in the region,” said Lt. Gen. Andres Centino, Army Commanding General.
