The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday (October 11, 2021) saved two children who were about to drown in the waters of Barangay Rawis, Calbayog City, Samar, due to high currents.

Two PCG rescue personnel hurried to the waters as soon as they heard about the incident from a concerned civilian.

The two children were rescued using the life line rope. Mr. Bernie Dumagis, a concerned citizen, also aided with the rescue operation.

The children were taken to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Calbayog for further assistance and to conduct an investigation.

The victims were identified as Mark Gerol Llever (11 years old) and John Wilson Llever (6 years old), residents of Barangay Aguit-itan, Calbayog City.

According to them, they were bathing near the Calbayog City Coastal Road Seawall when suddenly there was a big wave that swept them into the deeper part of the water.

When their safety was ensured, they were taken to the barangay hall of Barangay Aguit-itan to be turned over to their parents who were not reached by the PCG to personally visit the children’s home.
