The troops of the 86th Infantry Battalion (86IB), 5th Infantry Division halted the Communist Terrorist Group’s (CTG) extortion and recruitment activities by seizing their encampment, firearms, and explosives in Tumauini, Isabela on October 31, 2021.
The forces uncovered the enemy encampment, which could accommodate ten individuals, along with weaponry and explosives, after a confrontation with CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) members the day before.
Among the seized items were four M16 rifles, one M203 grenade launcher, one Glock 17 pistol, four rifle grenades, one hand grenade, four anti-personnel mines with wires and six blasting caps, National Democratic Front flag, a radio, a medical kit, other personal belongings, and subversive documents.
The Commanding General Philippine Army Lt. Gen. Andres C. Centino lauded the troops for preventing the CTG activities in the community.
“Congratulations, 86th Infantry Battalion, for protecting the people and the community. Sustain your operational momentum, and soon, we will witness a CNT-free society,” Lt. Gen. Centino said.
