A CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNT) surrendered to the 91st Infantry Battalion of the 7th Infantry Division in Brgy. Calabuanan, Baler, Aurora on October 31, 2021.

The surrendered CNT from Casiguran, Aurora, was identified as “Ka Purong” and handed over an M16 rifle with a magazine loaded with 20 rounds of live ammunition.

According to 91IB, Ka Purong’s surrender is the result of the government’s ongoing Retooled Community Support Program and the Philippine Army’s focused military operations on enforcing the president’s Executive Order No. 70, a whole-of-nation approach to ending the country’s local communist armed conflict.

Lt. Gen. Andres C. Centino, Army Commanding General, praised 91IB troops for their operational accomplishments while reiterating the command’s goal of ending the insurgency by 2022.

“To the 91IB troops, carry on with your pursuit of peace. The CTG is on the brink of irreversible defeat. Many more CTG members are abandoning the armed struggle and are returning to the folds of law as they realize that they are fighting a lost cause,” said Lt. Gen. Centino.
