The Philippine Army’s 20th Infantry Battalion on Monday, October 25, 2021, conducted an ocular inspection as part of the ongoing Simora-Palapag Pacific Coastal Road Project in Northern Samar as part of its security efforts.

The Simora-Palapag Pacific Coastal Road Project is a major infrastructure project that would improve the transportation of products and services between Catarman City, the province capital, and Palapag and neighboring coastal municipalities.

The Army has been securing vital road projects that will help drive economic growth and alleviate poverty in remote areas.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways, the road project will connect Northern Samar’s coastal villages to Catarman City directly, bypassing the island town of Laoang, which is only reachable by small boats.

With three bridge components, the two-lane coastal road project begins at Simora Junction and concludes at Palapag Junction (Simora, Jangtud 1 and Jangtud 2).
