The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) showcased its newest aerial asset, the Cessna Caravan 2081, to President Rodrigo Duterte, who presided over its commissioning into Coast Guard service in the Port of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, on November 4, 2021.

The said multi-role fixed-wing aircraft known as the “PCG 2081” has a passenger capacity of 14 occupants and can adapt to a wide variety of missions thanks to its powerful turboprop engine, improved graphical interface, powerful hardware, higher resolution display, and added functionality for situational awareness.

It will be used by the Coast Guard Aviation Force (CGAF) in the West Philippine Sea, the Kalayaan Island Group, and the Southern Philippines during search and rescue (SAR) missions, maritime patrols, and surveillance operations.

The PCG 2081 will also assist in the safe and timely delivery of COVID-19 vaccines to remote places in support of the national government’s inoculation campaign in the face of the global pandemic.
