BRP Jose Rizal conducts exercises with 2 Japan Maritime Self-Defense ships

The Philippine Navy frigate BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) on Sunday, November 14, conducted Passing Exercises (PASSEX) in the waters near Subic, Zambales, with the visiting Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) vessels, JS Kaga (DDH-184) and JS Murasame (DD-101).

The purpose of PASSEX, according to the PN and JMSDF, was to exercise collaboration and boost operational preparedness. Maneuvering Exercise and Photo Exercise were two other drills that were carried out.

The scheduled port call of the JMSDF Indo-Pacific Deployment Fleet in Subic took place from November 12 to 14, 2021.

The Philippine Navy’s participation in these exercises demonstrated its commitment to strengthening ties with partner navies while also allowing its personnel to gain experience with modern navies and improve their capabilities.
