The Philippine Army’s 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division activated a new battalion Tuesday, November 16, to bolster its anti-terrorism campaign in its command area.

The 101st Infantry Battalion was activated at Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista in Jolo, Sulu, by Maj. Gen. William Gonzalez, 11ID Commander.

The Sulu Archipelago is comprised of the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, all of which are part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). 11ID was activated in December 2018 and has operational authority over the Sulu Archipelago.

Meanwhile, in today’s “2nd Virtual Talk with the Battalion Commanders,” Commanding General of the Philippine Army and recently named AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Andres C. Centino underlined his guidance to end the country’s decades-long insurgency problem and dismantle local terrorist groups.
