53IB, OPAPP, ZamboSur PTF-ELCAC conduct localized peace consultation with Friends Rescued

The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) led by Program Manager III, Area Management Office, Western Mindanao Mr. Peter Cheng in collaboration with the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Batalion (53IB) held Localized Peace Consultation and Dialogue with Former Rebels (Friends Rescued) on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

DILG-Zamboanga del Sur, in collaboration with DILG-IX Focal Person for Localized Peace Engagements Ms. Raisel Dumasig, facilitated the “Kumustahan” and learning about the FRs’ lives. The Responses and Interventions from ZDS PTF-ELCAC and Line Agencies were then facilitated by ZDS PTF-ELCAC Focal Person Engr. Demetriu Luis Dalid and other line agency representatives.

Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, 53IB Commanding Officer, stated that the Localized Peace Consultations will greatly assist the FRs in their transition to normal life.

“This activity will address some issues and concerns of our FRs for them to become productive members of the society,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.

The activity was also attended by PPO IV, OPAPP Area Management Office Western Mindanao Engr. Hayriya Mohammad; Ms. Normina Gaite from TESDA-IX; Ms. Ma. Gloria Patayan from DSWD-IX; Ms. Arny Grace Soro from DTI-IX; Mr. Arnyl Corpuz from PhilHealth-IX; PMaj Roger Bartiana from PNP PRO-IX; 102nd Infantry (IGSOON) Brigade Civil-Military Operations Officer Cpt. Sotero Abrito III; DILG-ZDS Provincial Director Moh. Taha Arakama; DepEd Mr. Nilo C. Villarubia.
