The Community Support Program (CSP) team’s vigorous implementation of an information awareness campaign on the dangers posed by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) resulted in the abandonment of support of 61 CTG supporters in Brgy. Lan-ag, Lacub, Abra on November 21, 2021.
Lieutenant Colonel Sonny E. Gonzales, Commanding Officer of the Philippine Army’s 71st Infantry (KAIBIGAN) Battalion, said the campaign’s success is critical to the Army’s efforts to rid the barangays of the CTG’s influence.
The 71IB CSP team, lead by 2LT Brian N. Castor and 1LT Glean B. Arambala, Acting CMO Officer, facilitated the 61 CTG mass supporters’ withdrawal of support and swearing of loyalty to the government.
Following the ceremony was the conduct of peace rally and burning of CPP-NPA-NDF flags attended by Lacub Sangguniang Bayan Member Diosdado B. Daodaoen and Brgy. Chairman Eusebio Wagayen and its Brgy Officials.
Meanwhile, Philippine Army Brigadier General Luis Rex D. Bergante PA, Acting Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, credited the CSP team and the MTF-ELCAC with the efforts of the CSP team and the MTF-ELCAC.
“We will be relentless in our campaign to spread the awareness on danger of deceptive recruitment of the CTG and on how it disrupts the peace and development of the community. Asahan niyo ang pagbuhos ng pagsuko ng mga taga suporta ng mga terorista,” said BGen Bergante.
