Eight CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNT) voluntarily surrendered to the 73rd Infantry Battalion (73IB) at Barangay Sugal, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, due to a lack of support from mass base sympathizers and increased combat operations by the soldiers.

Members of a disbanded guerilla front were among the surrenderers, as were former Communist Terrorist Group leaders’ companions.

They also surrendered high-capacity weapons, including two M16 rifles and one M653 rifle.

Lt. Col. Antonio Quimado Jr., the Commanding Officer of 73IB, urged the remnants of the New People’s Army to return to the folds of the law so that they might benefit from the government’s reintegration program and live in peace with their families.
