PH Marines recovered high-powered firearms, terrorist propaganda materials in Palawan

The operating forces of the 3rd Marine Brigade discovered the remnants of the Bienvenido Vallever Command while performing a patrol as part of the focus military operation at Sitio Bayugon, Brgy Tinitian, Roxas, Palawan on Friday, December 10, 2021.

Bloodstains on the clash site indicate that the CNT, who evacuated the area after the fight, suffered an unknown number of casualties.

The firefight which lasted for about 20 minutes, resulted in the death of one armed CNT member and recovery of the following war materiel: three M16A1 rifle; three M203 grenade launcher; one M14 rifle; assorted ammunitions; long and short magazines; five bandoliers; two improvised explosive hand grenades; bomb detonator and wires; NPA flag; CTG uniforms; assorted medicines/vitamins; dental paraphernalia/tools; various ready-to-eat meals; assorted CTG books and documents; kitchenware; assorted backpacks; female kits; rain boots; assorted CNT clothes; one flash drive and one sim card. No casualty was reported from the government troops.

According to Colonel Jimmy D. Larida PN(M)(GSC), Commander 3rd Marine Brigade, the encounter was the result of “careful planning” based on information supplied by barangay residents.

Meanwhile, the cadaver of a CNT member identified as Arimel Padilla Rodriguez @ Azumi was turned over to the Roxas, Palawan local government unit for proper disposition.

“Nakikiramay ako sa pamilya na naulila ng napaslang na rebelde sa engkwentro. Rest assured that he will be given a decent burial. The CNT fighters should realize that the struggle they are fighting isn’t going to help them succeed,” said Larida expressing his sorrow for the deaths caused by CNT’s false propaganda.

Colonel Larida urged the remaining members of the CNT to surrender as quickly as possible and take advantage of the government’s offer before it was too late.

“Ang inyong pamilya ay magiging masaya na makasama kayo sa darating na pasko. The government is patiently waiting for your return to the fold of the law para magbagong buhay,” Col. Larida added.
