The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, in partnership with the 6th Forward Service Support Unit (6FSSU), destroyed captured, confiscated, surrendered, and recovered (CCSR) firearms of CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) in a demilitarization ceremony held at 6FSSU headquarters in Camp Martin, Delgado, Iloilo City on December 13, 2021.

The cutting of firearms was led by 3ID Commander Maj. Gen. Benedict Arevalo and Army Support Command (ASCOM) Deputy Commander and Philippine Army Disposal Committee chairperson Brig. Gen Rogelio Ulanday. Another batch of 66 CCSR firearms that will be demilitarized was also inspected by the demilitarization team.

The demilitarization of CSSR weaponry, according to Army Commanding General Maj. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr., will deny CNTs the ability to conduct more atrocities in communities.

Demilitarization is the process of destroying firearms by “cutting” its pieces with a circular saw, rendering all parts unusable.
