BRP Rafael Pargas personnel brought hope to Odette-affected Dinagatnons during Christmas season

The BRP Rafael Pargas (PC379) was observed singing Christmas carols and handing out “bundles of joy” to local inhabitants displaced by Typhoon Odette on December 24, 2021, while doing relief operations and bringing 55 sacks of rice (50 kg each bag) to the local government units (LGUs) of Loreto, Dinagat Islands.

Officers and crew of PC379 collected monies from their own pockets with the help of their families and friends to create “bundles of joy” (buckets containing different Noche Buena items) that benefited 21 households in the municipality of Loreto, which was severely hit by the typhoon.

PC379 staff came out and sang various Christmas songs to help the distraught people revive their Christmas joy. Instead of asking for “pamasko” after the caroling, the staff of PC379 delivered “bundles of joy” to the typhoon-affected families on Christmas Eve.

Despite missing their own families and spending Christmas away from home, the officers and crew of PC379 found solace and contentment in seeing residents’ faces light up with excitement.
