The Philippine Army’s 534th Engineer Construction Battalion (534ECB) on Thursday, January 13, 2022, partnered with other government agencies to build a significant road project in Sitio Sambulungan, Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao del Norte that will benefit indigenous communities.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the 27.2-kilometer road project, called “Ang Dalan sa Panaghiusa, Kalinaw ug Pag-uswag,” was headed by 1003 Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Consolito Yecla.
The Davao del Norte province government and the Talaingod municipal government supplied heavy equipment support, while 534ECB dispatched one engineer equipment team and a bulldozer for the project. The road project will make it easier for indigenous peoples in Talaingod to receive basic services and will help with security activities in the area.
Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., Army Commanding General, praised 534ECB personnel for participating in multi-agency nation-building programs and pledged to provide much-needed resources to all Army units across the country.
“As the Philippine Army’s developmental arm in this part of Mindanao, your role is vital to the attainment of our organization’s mission. Your skills and competency in performing a non-combat mission are important in winning the peace against various threats that our country and its people are facing,” the CGPA remarked.
