Three members of the communist terrorist group surrendered to the military in Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
The three surrendered to soldiers at the 37th Infantry Battalion’s headquarters in Barangay Tibpuan, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
“Based on the report from the ground, the surrendered personalities are former members of the Hqs Company, West Daguma Front, Sub-regional Committee Daguma, Far South Mindanao Region,” said Lt. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr., Commander of Western Mindanao Command.
One 5.56mm M16 rifle, one 7.62mm M14 rifle, and one M67 fragmentation hand grenade were handed over by captured individuals. The 37th Infantry Battalion assisted them with medical examinations and custodial debriefing.
The effective surrender of the three CTG members, according to Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, was the product of the combined efforts of the 37IB and intelligence units.
“This is a result of our continuous campaign against terrorism here in central Mindanao,” Maj. Gen. Uy said.
Their former comrade persuaded them to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law, according to the surrendered individuals. For their safety and security, their identities are kept hidden.
A total of seven CTG members have been neutralized since January 1, with six surrendering and one being killed during an encounter.
“Congratulations to the troops of Joint Task Force Central for the splendid job. It is but more fulfilling to win this fight against terrorism without single bloodshed,” said Lt. Gen. Rosario Jr.
